AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Recognized as a “Best Place to Work” for Fourth Year in a Row

October 31, 2019 - Baton Rouge, La.

AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana, a Healthy Louisiana Medicaid managed care health plan and part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, has been selected as a “Best Place to Work” in the Baton Rouge area by the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report for the fourth year in a row.  AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana moved up 13 places in the small and medium companies category (15 to 249 employees), from 22nd in 2018 to 9th this year.

AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana associates completed questionnaires about the business, its community presence, and the benefits offered to its associates. The health plan received a perfect score for associates’ satisfaction with the type of work they do and the benefits they receive.

AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana currently employs 202 associates in Louisiana — 124 at its Baton Rouge headquarters and 78 teleworkers based in communities throughout the state

"Our associates tell us that working for AmeriHealth Caritas is more than just a job. ‎It's about working on behalf of our members each day and helping to make our communities healthier,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Market President Kyle Viator. “Each day, our associates work to ensure there’s health equity for every member we have throughout this state. And when you’re working with such a purpose in mind, it makes the work more fulfilling and more meaningful. Our focus on care drives everything we do.”

Associates receive benefits such as continuing education tuition and healthy lifestyle reimbursement programs, an employee referral program, adoption assistance, and personal and professional development offerings. Associates also have access to low-cost, healthy snacks, as well as no-cost “lunch-and-learn” seminars on emotional, financial, and physical health; consultations with a registered dietitian; flu shots, and other products and services.

In addition, AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana sponsors public events that encourage its associates to volunteer in their communities. During National Volunteer Week last April, several associates engaged in a national campaign to collect and sort food donations for local pantries, reflecting the company’s work to address food insecurities, one of the social determinants of health that causes barriers to people living healthier lives.

In 2015, AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana was recognized by Louisiana Department of Health as a Level One “WellSpot,” the highest rating level under the state’s “Well-Ahead” initiative. Some of the criteria that AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana met to achieve this designation included offering tobacco cessation program coverage as part of its health insurance coverage for associates, providing support for breast feeding mothers, and implementing a worksite wellness program.
