AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Offering Fitbits® to Encourage Members to Stay Physically Active

Benefit Helps Make Every Calorie Count Program Members Reach Activity Goals

AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana, a Healthy Louisiana Medicaid managed care health plan and part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, is helping its members stay healthy while gyms are operating at reduced capacity by providing them with a Fitbit at no cost. To receive the Fitbit, AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana members who qualify for the Make Every Calorie Count weight loss program must be enrolled in the program by July 31, 2020. The opportunity to receive the benefit expires August 31, 2020.

Fitbits are devices that help users track their physical activity and the number of calories they burn from that activity. By giving Make Every Calorie Counts enrollees the devices, AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana aims to help members at particular health risk from lack of exercise continue efforts to improve their health and wellness.

With so many things in our lives disrupted by the pandemic, exercise can provide a small piece of normalcy and help relieve stress,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Market President Kyle Viator. “This benefit will help our members remain physically active and on track to maintain their wellness goals.”

Make Every Calorie Count helps qualified AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana members of any age manage their diet and weight. Eligible members are enrolled by their care manager and have access to gym memberships, a pedometer, and other benefits.
