AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Receives Highest Provider Satisfaction Rating
Continued Focus on Clinical Sharing, Administrative Simplification and Quality of Care
AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana, a Healthy Louisiana Medicaid managed care health plan and part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, received the highest rate of provider satisfaction among Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) evaluated in the recently-released Louisiana Department of Health’s 2018 Medicaid Managed Care Provider Satisfaction Survey. The survey of primary care providers (PCPs), physical health specialist physicians and behavioral health providers assesses their experience interacting with MCOs participating in the Healthy Louisiana program. AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana also had the highest rate of providers indicating they would recommend the plan to other practitioners.1
“We are proud that providers recognize our efforts to support them with the tools and resources they need to provide quality care for members,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Market President Kyle Viator. “Our 2019 strategic plan builds on this work in a significant way, targeting provider needs in the areas of clinical improvement, education and administration simplification, and quality outcomes.”
Following recent discussions with network providers about the Healthy Louisiana Claims Report, which was created by Act 710 of the 2018 Regular Session and requires the Louisiana Department of Health to produce and to submit claims reporting details to the Louisiana Legislature, AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana launched a data-informed provider learning program. The initiative, which employs a mixture of web and community-based seminars and on-site trainings, prioritizes provider education needs, allowing insight into communication and education gaps, and helping to ensure providers receive the timely and relevant information they need in the way that is most convenient for them.
A Provider Learning Continuum Advisory Group will assist AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana in the creation, implementation, and review of provider education strategies and efforts. Participating providers will be asked to give input and feedback on training topics, provider education materials, and dates and locations of provider education workshops and events.
In an effort to provide front-line clinicians with the knowledge and support they need to manage patients with complex conditions in the patients’ own communities, AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana has collaborated with Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes), and will lead collaborative learning clinics to increase knowledge among participants and access to care for members.
Similar to virtual chart rounds, the ECHO model™ creates a space where practitioners can share knowledge and build support to better manage patients with complex care needs. Once the program launches, practitioners from multiple locations will be able to connect at regularly scheduled times through teleconferencing, allowing practitioners to present de-identified patient cases to a team of peers and experts for mentoring and shared learning. All levels of AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana practitioners are welcome to participate in Project ECHO® at no cost.
“AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana is building on a foundation of data-driven training and clinical best practice sharing that creates increased collaboration between our primary care providers, behavioral health practitioners and specialists,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana Market Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rodney Wise. “Increasing the capacity of providers to treat members through the dissemination of specialized knowledge and best practice guidelines ultimately leads to improved member satisfaction and overall better health outcomes.”
